About Us

The Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center (AWCC), located in Portage, Alaska, is a renowned sanctuary dedicated to the preservation and rehabilitation of Alaska's wildlife. Spanning over 200 acres of stunning wilderness, the center provides a safe haven for orphaned, injured, and ill animals, offering them a second chance at life. Visitors to the AWCC can observe a diverse array of Alaskan animals, including bears, bison, moose, and eagles, in naturalistic habitats. The center also plays a pivotal role in education and conservation efforts, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of Alaska's unique wildlife and the importance of preserving their natural environments.

The Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center (AWCC) is located in Portage Valley and is surrounded by the breathtaking Chugach Mountain Range and Turnagain Arm Inlet. AWCC offers a peaceful and scenic setting for the ultimate Alaska experience where guests will be surrounded by stunning mountains, Alpine Glaciers, the Turnagain Arm Inlet, and Alaska’s beautiful wildlife.
Come enjoy over 200 acres of animal enclosures by touring our scenic 1.5-mile loop, accessible by foot, by bike, or by car.

9 am -2pm (last entry at 3 pm)

Friday-saturday-Sunday and Monday

Transportation Back and Forth From Girdwood $99
